Great Smoky Mountains National Park
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a 520,000-acre mountain wilderness. It attracts over 10 million  visitors each year making it one of America's most popular national parks. The combination of scenery, history and recreation draws visitors from all across our country. You will find over 800 miles of hiking trails and 16 mountain peaks over 6000 feet tall, in the National Park. Recognized by the United Nations as an International Biosphere Reserve, the park is a treasured nature preserve with an abundance of flora and fauna, several of which are found nowhere else on earth. Please remember when visiting the park not to feed the wildlife and leave everything as you found it. For the sake of preservation, please do not remove anything; from acorns to twigs, from our National Park.
Our Climate
East Tennessee’s climate, while mild, is a full four season climate. With a ski resort, nature trails, countless lakes & rivers and amazing fall foliage, there is something to appreciate during every season here in the Smokies.
- Spring - Daytime highs average from 61-77 degrees farenheit.
- Summer - Daytime highs average from 77-86 degrees farenheit. Temperatures rarely rise above 90.
- Fall - Daytime highs average from 59-81 degrees farenheit. Foliage peak is Early to Mid October.
- Winter - Daytime highs average from 46-61 degrees farenheit.
Mild for most of the season, the temperature rarely dips below 10 degrees. Snowfall accumulation in the higher elevations (above 2,500 ft) is frequent, but at lower elevations light dustings happen only a few days each year.
